Enduring Confidence in Insulated Links

H.J. Hirtzer & Associates Inc.’s insulated links have been in use for over fifty years and are well-established with a proven track record. Used by the U.S. Navy for Radio Frequency (RF) protection, it has safely handled the loading and unloading of Trident nuclear missiles and live munitions for over 30 years without a reported failure. The Navy's continued use of our insulated links underscores their reliability and durability.

Greater Durability

Our insulators come in a wider range of sizes than any other insulated link, from half a ton to 120 tons, with KV ratings from 1KV to 50KV. We also offer custom KV-rated links and are the only manufacturer to provide a 2-to-1 safety factor for KV ratings. Unlike others, we use fiberglass for load bearing, avoiding interlocking metal parts, which enhances KV capability and ensures a longer lifespan. In 1993, we upgraded our insulators with new dielectric core materials and polyurethane rubber covers for improved weather and water protection.

Flexible Insulator Applications

Stud and Hook Connection

Direct attachment to the block for secure and reliable performance.

Bail and Hook Configuration

Versatile setup with a bail and hook for varied applications.

Bail and Bail Arrangement

Connects using two bails, offering flexibility for different needs.

Custom Fittings

Custom Fittings

We can create custom fittings to meet any specific requirements. By attaching the hook directly to the insulator, we eliminate the need for extensive rigging and reduce costs. Our insulators are suitable for both DC (welding) and AC applications. Additionally, we produce an in-line insulator used by the Navy for specialized applications. Our insulated link has a proven track record with the U.S. Navy and in public use.

Reducing Costs

Reducing Costs

Our insulated links offer significant protection by shielding riggers and loads from RF static discharge and high-voltage line contact. They also safeguard the crane from DC currents generated by welders during operation. By preventing damage and costly injuries, our insulated links can save crane companies thousands, or even millions, of dollars in repairs and associated expenses.

Traceable Certification

Every insulated link we produce undergoes proof testing at a 2-to-1 load and electrical testing before being shipped to the customer. Each insulator is accompanied by certification documents from an independent testing laboratory, with records maintained both with the insulator and at our manufacturing facility. Each unit features a serial number that links to its certification date. For more details or to request documentation, please reach out to us.
